Communicative Skills-English N101

The semester is end after taken new helpful classes not only in the major, also in our life such as in our work. It’s one of important skills in any practiced life. Whole my life I will remember this subject and I am proud because I learned under the hand of Mr. John Vrhovnik.

we have gained in this course very important in preparing and planning that will helps us to improved our English skills by experiences in organizing, before I had taken this subject I enter the meeting without preparing for it, such as agenda, but now I recognized what we must to prepare and organize for the meeting by having the agenda and planning. I hope in future to use these skills that will help me to get a great meeting.

the biggest challenges in this course was the semi-formal presentation, because its difficult to me to do a presentation without using Power Point many slides because only two slides, it’s the first time to form be but the Mr. John Vrhovnik help be and with more practice its became easier to me it was the biggest challenge for me and I did will.

finally I have really enjoyed the course, it's my pleasure to work with a good teacher that really take care about us, believe me I will use his comments and notes in future because it's really the right way for doing a meeting. Also I will try to improve my English that really help me in future, and listening and writing at same time.

Formal presentation report

On Friday 30th of December 2010, my classmates Saoud Husain Al Bloushi (H00157343), (H00159080) and Adnan Abdulla (H00158036) made a presentation about “Renewable energy sources” at 10:15 am in J33. In this report, I am going discuss their presentation.

First of all, Saoud went through the introduction of what renewable energy means, and how many types of renewable energy we have. There was only one slide which talked about the means of renewable energy. other slide speak about how dose the energy been produce from the current. There are many types of renewable energy. Saoud mention about ocean current energy and what is the advantages and disadvantages of ocean current.

Later on, Adnan talked about solar energy. There was one slide for this point, the slide talk about solar energy work and its useful solution. After that, Adnan went through wind energy. He presented the wind energy in one slide and Adnan presented the wind energy clearly. However, he said the wind energy is useful in our environment .finally Adnan summaries what they mention on the presentation. There bibliography was in APA format, I think it was fine. The style of their presentation was very good in all.

In general the whole presentation was good .As there were no spelling or grammar mistakes. I liked how they answer the question with real example. Adnan and Saoud to improve their presentation delivery skills.

meeting reflection

I was a Note Taker of our meeting group and my job was to write the points and discuss the point with my group. With the help of my meeting team we have done good job. Our meeting was about HCT parking Issue.

It was successful because all the following groups used our way and the audiences were able to listen and make a good eye contact for all the class. My evaluate was very good as a Note Taker of the meeting because I have discussed almost all the points and I was able to write all the points on a paper that help me to write meeting report .It was hard so I have to take a note and discuss the points at the same time. My team was very helpful and I have received a good feedback from them. The team leader was very helpful he discuses every point and assess us all. All the members were adding points to make the meeting as good as possible.

I think I have done my work and cover all the points. I hope to improve myself in writing points and listen to the meeting at the same time, because it’s really difficult to listen and write.

Semi-presentation

On Tuesday 14th of December 2010, my classmate AWAD ALI MANEA MUFREH(C00160122), made a presentation about “Internet TV” at 8:45 am in T001. In this report, I am going to evaluate and discuss about his presentation and I will give some recommendations about it.

First of all, Awad starts with a different of Internet TV attract the audience and that was a great idea to attract the students. The eye contact for Awad was very good and he moves in front of the screen to give the audience a clear vision for the screen. He has got some note with him in the presentation and he did not read from either paper or screen because he practices in his home and have a background about his topic, so he gave as nice information about Internet. The sound was clear and the voice was very good and clear for all the class. The presentation seems organized and clear. Awad look confident and he smile a lot.

The slide background was a nice design and the text size was normal. The visual of the presentation was nice. Awad use animations and transitions for his presentation.

Awad presentation was good and he mentions us about the important thing in the Internet TV. I like Awad presentation and I’m happy to write summary about him.

In the UAE today one problem that some people are driving without a license. This is dengoures so you must to get a license. In this essay I will talk about how you get a driving license.

First , you must be 18 or 17 years old. Second, go to the police department to open a file, your father must come with you because he will be responsible for you. Then take the eye test. Next, you must do the theory test which is about the traffic rules. After that, study for the theory r test,it will take a week. If you fail, you must take the appointment again. You must get 28 out 35 to pass . In addition, you should make an appointment for the driving test, either automatic or manual. If you fail, you must do it again. There are several tests for the license, the first one is reverse and parking. After this you will this you will do the street test. It takes around one and half months to do this,because it depends on your tests and how are you do.

Finally, everybody must get a driving license, because its very nessessory for our normal life. It is easy to get a license if you follow the steps above.
